Questions?
Botox and Dysport are both neurotoxins that work by temporarily relaxing facial muscles to reduce wrinkles. Their main differences are that Dysport typically spreads more, making it ideal for larger areas like the forehead; Dysport may take effect faster (2-3 days vs 3-7 for Botox); and the dosage units differ, with Dysport generally requiring more units but at a lower cost per unit.
Results typically last 3-4 months for Botox and 3-5 months for Dysport. The duration can vary based on individual factors including metabolism, treatment area, dosage, and whether you're a first-time or returning patient.
There is minimal to no downtime following Botox or Dysport treatments. You can resume most normal activities immediately after your appointment. However, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption, and lying down for 4 hours after treatment to prevent product migration.
Dysport results typically begin to appear within 2-3 days, while Botox results may take 3-7 days to become visible. Full results for both treatments are usually apparent after 14 days.
Most patients experience minimal discomfort during treatment. We use very fine needles, and the procedure is quick. Many patients describe the sensation as a slight pinch. For those concerned about discomfort, we can apply a topical numbing cream before treatment.
The number of units required varies based on the treatment area, the strength of your muscles, and your desired results. As a general guideline: forehead lines typically require 10-20 units of Botox or 30-60 units of Dysport; frown lines (glabella) typically need 15-25 units of Botox or 45-75 units of Dysport; and crow's feet usually require 8-15 units of Botox or 24-45 units of Dysport per side.
